The new Aaron Sorkin film, ‘The Social Reckoning’, was scheduled to be released in Icelandic cinemas earlier this month, according to reports from Vísir. However, the film did not appear on cinema listings as planned, and its absence has prompted public questions from two local specialists. The reasons for its non-release in Iceland remain unclear.

Anna Laufey Stefánsdóttir and Kristín Ólöf Grétarsdóttir, specialists in digital welfare, have called for ‘The Social Reckoning’ to be shown in Icelandic cinemas. In an opinion piece featured in DV, they questioned why the film is not available for viewing and urged for its release.

“Why aren’t we allowed to see it?” the two specialists wrote, expressing their frustration at the situation. As of today, there has been no official explanation from Icelandic cinema operators or distributors regarding the film’s absence. It is not known whether the release has been officially cancelled or blocked, or who may be responsible.
