The Danish music producer and artist known as knackered relocated to Reykjavík at the age of 21, drawn by Reykjavík’s vibrant grassroots music scene and united music community. Mannlíf first reported her story.

Reykjavík is Iceland’s capital and largest city, located on Faxaflói bay in the southwest and run by the City of Reykjavík. It has developed a reputation both for its creative industries and for a music scene that attracts international talent.

Knackered told Mannlíf that a strong grassroots scene and cohesive music community were important factors in her decision to move to Reykjavík. She described both the support of local musicians and the welcoming atmosphere as major influences on her career progression.

She said the city had given her the space she needed to grow, with opportunities to experiment and develop as both a producer and an artist.
