Weather warnings now cover every region and all forecast areas of Iceland, with yellow and orange alerts issued nationwide. The situation was described in a report from RÚV English, detailing conditions across the country as of just after 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

As a result of these severe weather conditions, travel in many parts of Iceland is or will soon be difficult or impossible. The situation remains highly changeable, and caution is advised for anyone considering travel.

Despite the conditions, Icelandair hopes to operate flights to Akureyri, the country’s largest town outside the capital area. Icelandair is Iceland’s largest airline.
