A proposal to create a coordinated procedure to support people exiting prostitution and trafficking was approved at a recent meeting of the City of Reykjavík welfare council. The news was first reported by mbl.is.

Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland, located on the southern shore of Faxaflói bay in the southwest of the country. The City of Reykjavík municipal government oversees the city’s affairs.

According to mbl.is, the new plan recommends establishing a special project group composed of representatives from the City of Reykjavík welfare division. This group would be responsible for implementing the coordinated support procedure.

The proposal was put forward by council members representing the Independence Party, the Reform Party (Viðreisn) and the Progressive Party, as reported by Mannlíf. Only one council member, Helgi Áss, was reported to have opposed the decision.
