An Icelandic woman has spoken candidly about her experiences since being diagnosed at 34 with triple-positive breast cancer, sharing her perspective as she approaches the four-year mark since her diagnosis. DV reported her story ahead of the anniversary on 24 October.

In a first-person account published by DV, she describes how, prior to her illness, she had always been in excellent health, able to exercise freely, eat whatever she wanted, and had never felt sick. The sudden diagnosis marked a dramatic change in her life.

Reflecting on her journey, she says she feels both proud and extremely grateful to have come through cancer, but also frustrated and irritated by the changes her illness and treatment have caused to her body and daily life. Her story sheds light on the complex emotions that can follow serious illness, even after recovery.
