Celebrated Icelandic crime author Arnaldur Indriðason is preparing to release his 30th novel, marking a change in his choice of protagonist, according to mbl.is. The book, titled Morðið á Evelyn Gray, is set for release on 1 November 2026.
Morðið á Evelyn Gray will introduce readers to a new central character, a policewoman named Lóla. This marks a shift for Arnaldur, who is known for his long-running detective characters Erlendur and Konráð, both of whom have accumulated a loyal following in Iceland over the years.
Lóla is described as the complete opposite of Erlendur and Konráð, promising readers a fresh perspective in Icelandic crime fiction. Speaking about his new direction, Arnaldur Indriðason told mbl.is, “I wanted to try something completely new.” (translated from Icelandic)
