Meteorologists have forecast an unusually low atmospheric pressure, as low as 934 hPa, over Iceland today, according to Vísir. The low-pressure system is expected to move onshore this afternoon, making for particularly challenging weather conditions across the country.
The forecast includes widespread high waves near Iceland’s coastlines. These conditions are expected to bring a risk of high sea levels and potential storm surges, particularly along the south, east and north coasts of Iceland.
Winds are anticipated to decrease once the centre of the low-pressure system moves inland later today, meteorologists told Vísir.
