A tourism harvest festival was held in the Norðurhjarasvæði, North Iceland, last week to celebrate the achievements and diversity within the local tourism sector, according to Vikublaðið.

Participants in the event, most of them working in tourism, received an introduction to the area’s varied tourism operations, its historical background, and the local environment. This provided an opportunity for those involved in the industry to connect and learn more about their region.

As has become customary at the festival, awards were presented to honour contributions within the sector, though it is not yet known which specific awards were given or who received them. The aim is to recognise and encourage strong work in regional tourism.

The Market Office of North Iceland (Markaðsstofa Norðurlands) said its goal is to draw attention to the region’s tourism achievements and to pay tribute to those involved.
