A journalist in Iceland has purchased illegal peptides and taken them for laboratory analysis, according to a report from DV. The case is tied to growing public attention and concern about Retatrutide, a drug that is not approved for public use.
Retatrutide, sometimes called “Reta,” is in the spotlight in Iceland after its experimental use for weight management. The drug is still only at the experimental or trial stage, under development by the company Eli Lilly, and has not received regulatory approval from drug safety authorities.
Despite this lack of approval, Retatrutide is reportedly in production and is being sold in Iceland. The journalist’s purchase and subsequent laboratory test highlight the possibility that unapproved and experimental substances are making their way into the Icelandic market. It is unknown who is producing or selling these peptides, or what the laboratory analysis of the purchased substances revealed.
