An airline passenger in Iceland has spoken out after being charged significantly more than he expected for a first-class upgrade on a return flight, according to a report by Vísir.

The passenger, who bought two tickets from an unnamed airline, later placed what he thought was a 5,000-króna bid to upgrade to first class. He believed the total cost would be 20,000 krónur for both seats across the outbound and return journeys.

Instead, the passenger said he ended up paying six times more than he intended for the upgrade, and it remains unclear which airline was involved, how the bidding system functioned or the exact amount charged.

Details such as the identity of the airline, the travel destination, dates and times have not yet been reported. No official comment or clarification has been provided by the airline in question.
