Isavia Domestic Airports, a subsidiary of Iceland’s national airport operator, and the city’s health inspectorate (Heilbrigðiseftirlit Reykjavíkur) have both issued warnings regarding a new proposal for a detailed local plan (deiliskipulag) for the Loftleiðareit area. The concerns were revealed in a report published by DV on October 18, 2026.
The Loftleiðareit area is situated immediately east of Reykjavík Airport in Iceland’s capital. The proposal outlines plans to redevelop or regulate this plot, but the specific details of the proposal, such as exact building heights, intended uses, or planned distances, have not yet been made public.
It remains unclear what precise concerns Isavia Domestic Airports and the city’s health inspectorate have raised about the new local plan. The city authorities or related agencies have not yet commented on their warnings or provided further documentation on the matter.
