The first international data centre to operate in Iceland began about fifteen years ago when Verne started operations on the Reykjanes peninsula, southwest of Reykjavík, Vísir reported.
Company representatives told Vísir that Iceland offered ideal conditions for running a data centre. However, the specific advantages cited at that time were not detailed in the report.
About Reykjanes: Iceland’s southwest peninsula
Reykjanes is a peninsula in southwest Iceland, home to Keflavík International Airport, the country’s main international gateway, and the famous Blue Lagoon. The area is volcanically active, with large lava fields, and has experienced repeated eruptions since 2021.
