A photographer has documented almost 700 sheep gatherings, known as réttir, across Iceland, mbl.is reported. Anna Fjóla Gísladóttir compiled her work into a book called Réttir á Íslandi, which explores this longstanding rural tradition.
Réttir are annual autumn round-ups central to many rural Icelandic communities. Anna Fjóla began her project on a smaller scale, but over time she expanded her research, eventually collecting information about over 1,000 sheep folds across the country, according to mbl.is.
She recently discussed her efforts to locate and photograph these gatherings in Dagmálum, according to mbl.is.
