Yellow weather alerts have been issued for Thursday in Faxaflói and South Iceland, with forecasts of gale-force southeasterly winds and heavy rainfall. The warnings, reported by RÚV English, indicate that weather conditions could worsen from the early hours.

According to the forecast, Faxaflói, a bay in southwest Iceland between the peninsulas of Snæfellsnes and Reykjanes, will be under alert starting at 03:00. South Iceland will follow from 04:00. The Icelandic Met Office warns that southeasterly winds could reach between 13 and 20 metres per second, accompanied by significant rainfall.

People in these regions, including the Reykjavík area on Faxaflói’s southern shore, are being advised to take caution, as weather conditions may affect travel and outdoor activities. The alerts are part of the regular measures taken by Icelandic authorities to inform and protect the public during bouts of severe weather.
