A retired Icelandic couple, Guðmundur Þ. Egilsson and Sigrún Óskarsdóttir, have become known for their remarkable hiking adventures to Nepal, RÚV reported. Their decision to take up long-distance trekking after turning sixty has inspired other older walkers. Guðmundur has made the trek five times, while Sigrún has joined him for three of those journeys.

The couple first discovered their love of hiking after turning sixty. Since then, they have embraced the challenge and adventure of long-distance treks, particularly those leading to Nepal’s mountainous terrain.

Now both retired, they continue to make hiking a central part of their lives. Remaining active, they have no plans of slowing down and are already planning another trip to Nepal in the near future.
