A book highlights the work and history of early female photographers in Iceland. According to RÚV, the book documents the stories of women who played a pioneering role in the country’s photographic history.

Eight women worked professionally as photographers during the latter half of the 19th century in Iceland. At that time, women in Iceland were largely excluded from running their own businesses. Photography, however, offered a rare avenue for women to gain both power and financial independence, making their achievements particularly significant in the context of that era.
