The artwork Fljótandi dívan by Dutch artist Victorine Pasman will be presented at Stapalaug in Reykjanesbær, a municipality in south-west Iceland, on Saturday 24 October. According to local municipality notices and a report by mbl.is, the event offers audiences a visual and musical experience in and around the public pool.
The presentation of Fljótandi dívan will combine music, water and light, with a soprano floating over the surface of the pool during the performance. The work draws inspiration from 17th-century clothing, Dutch landscapes, and stories of mermaids and shipwrecked women, according to Reykjanesbær and mbl.is.
Attendees may watch the presentation either from inside the pool itself or remain poolside; there is no requirement to enter the water. There will be two performances on the day, and admission to both the event and to Stapalaug will be free between 12:00 and 15:00, Reykjanesbær announced.
mbl.is states that the event is part of Óperudagar 2026, an opera-themed programme. The outlet reports that the performance is a premiere in Iceland, though municipal information does not clarify if this is a national premiere.
