Kaffistofan, a coffee shop located at Brekkugata 5 in Reykjavík, was named the best coffee shop in Iceland in the European Coffee Trip Awards 2026. The decision was announced on Tuesday, according to Kaffið and Vikublaðið. The award was based on votes from coffee fans across Europe.
The European Coffee Trip Awards allow app users to rate cafés that offer specialty coffee. Kaffistofan’s recognition followed a voting process conducted through the outlet’s digital platform, highlighting the enthusiasm of coffee enthusiasts participating in the selection. Vikublaðið, the first outlet to report the news, noted that it is a great honour for the establishment to receive an award chosen by passionate customers.
Ármann Atli Eiríksson owns Kaffistofan. The win places a spotlight on Reykjavík, Iceland’s capital and largest city, which sits on the southern shore of Faxaflói bay and was officially founded in 1786 as a trading town.
