Kaffistofan, a small café and coffee roastery in Akureyri in northern Iceland, was named Iceland’s winner in the European Coffee Trip Awards 2026, according to RÚV English. The honour recognises Kaffistofan as the top coffee destination in the country this year.

Speaking about the distinction, staff at Kaffistofan said they were proud to be chosen, especially because the award is decided by votes from coffee lovers. “It is a great honour for us to receive this recognition, particularly as it is based on votes from coffee lovers”, they said, according to RÚV English.

Akureyri, where Kaffistofan is based, is the largest town outside the capital area, serving as an important port and regional hub in northern Iceland. The European Coffee Trip Awards are an annual event that highlight outstanding cafés across Europe, with winners selected by public vote.
