The Progressive Party has launched a website that lets the public estimate how the 2027 government budget bill could affect their household finances, so voters can see the personal impact of proposed changes. The launch of utreikningur.is was first reported by mbl.is.
The new website lets users input details such as family size, income, mortgage information, driving habits and planned purchases to calculate the estimated effects of the 2027 budget. The site then provides a breakdown of the impact of proposed changes in taxes, fees and various forms of household support.
According to the Progressive Party leader Lilja Dögg Alfreðsdóttir, the idea behind the tool is to make the government budget more transparent for the general public. “This is our gift to the government,” the party said in a press release.
The Progressive Party is an agrarian political party in Iceland, established in 1916. Its current leader, Lilja Dögg Alfreðsdóttir, was elected chairman in February 2026. The party has traditionally drawn its core support from rural areas.
