Icelandair, Iceland’s largest airline and flag carrier, reported a profit after tax of 11.8 billion Icelandic krónur for the third quarter of 2026, according to the business daily Viðskiptablaðið, and posted its highest-ever quarterly revenues even as it warns of a full-year loss. This result marked a substantial increase from the 7.0 billion krónur profit recorded for the same period in 2025, as first reported by Viðskiptablaðið and mbl.is.

The airline also achieved its highest-ever quarterly revenues, reaching 80.5 billion krónur in the third quarter. This figure represents a 12% year-on-year increase, with mbl.is highlighting that it is Icelandair’s strongest revenue performance to date.

Despite the strong quarter, Icelandair expects to post a loss for the full year 2026. According to company figures cited by Viðskiptablaðið and Vísir, the improved summer performance was offset in part by disruptions such as a strike by the Aircraft Engineers Association of Iceland, which reduced the airline’s earnings before interest and taxes by around 500 million krónur.

Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair’s CEO, said the company is on the right track despite negative impacts on its results. “Operations at Icelandair were strong in the quarter,” he said, according to Vísir.
