World Class, a major fitness chain in Iceland, has begun rolling out a new identification system developed by Zeesam, a Finnish technology startup. The development, first reported by mbl.is, could speed entry and reduce physical contact for members.
The Zeesam solution uses high-accuracy palm scanning to verify individuals. Users simply hold their palm about 10 centimetres from the device to be recognized.
Beyond identification, the Zeesam system can also be used for payment purposes at World Class locations, according to mbl.is. This could make access and transactions at the fitness centres quicker and more seamless for members.
