Groundbreaking held for Iceland’s first high‑security prison at Stóra‑Hraun
A ceremony today marked the start of construction for a 17.8 billion krónur high‑security prison in Árborg, the first such facility purpose‑built in Iceland. The new prison will emphasise security, living conditions and rehabilitation.
