Cruise ship passengers were the primary source of foreign card expenditure in Ísafjörður during the summer months, according to new figures reported by RÚV English.

A fresh analysis by the payment processing company Teya showed that these visitors accounted for more than half of foreign card spending in the Westfjords town for the season.

The study also found that passengers disembarking from smaller cruise vessels spent almost three times as much per person while ashore in Ísafjörður compared to those arriving on larger ships.
